X-41 World Championship in Copenhagen

X-Yachts Belgium Sailing Team in the first X-41 World Championship

The X-Yachts Belgium Sailing Team sailed a very nice 8th place overall with “X” at the first X-41 World Championship in Copenhagen. Winning race nr 6 was not less then brilliant.

The other Belgium X-41 ‘Cedo Nulli’ sailed a 25th place overall. But the owner, Serge Goossens, can be excused. He only got his boat three days for the race and had no experience at all with an X-41, neither such pro competition.

X-41 - "X" only second at the Belgium IRC Championship

"X" only second due to a very poor race committee
During the weekend of 21, 22 and 23 rd of September the Belgium IRC Championship was sailed in Oostende. For many years we had not sailed at the Belgium coast as we had experienced very poor Belgium race committees. Pitty enough they succeeded to blow it again this year.

The weather and racing was very nice with three days of sunny conditions and… three X-Yachts were finally on the podium:

1. IMX-40 “Oxygen
2. X-41 “X”
3. X-35 ‘Liesl”

X-41 - "X" won the Goese Sas Trophy

"X" ended at 1st place
During the weekend of 29/30 September some of the best Dutch and Belgium racing yachts matched up at the Goese Sas Trophy, which became one of the top events in the south-Holland and Belgium area.

X-ARGENTA - 2nd place overall

X-ARGENTA ended at 2nd place overall in the AUDI X-35 Cup
The last races were sailed beginning of July for the Audi X-35 cup. X-ARGENTA totalises 22 points, resulting in an overall 2nd position, only one point behind ex J-22 World Champion Nic Bol with Quantum Racing Team. Third place was taken by the team of X-Yachts Holland 'Xhibition'

This excellent result in this highly professional sailed cup gave us good hopes for the X-35 Gold Cup sailed in August in Medemblik.

SLAM Deltaweek - IRC

Holland – 24 June to 6 July 2007

X-41 "X" Overall Winner
During the SLAM Deltaweek in the south of Holland, the new X-41 "X" sailed by X-Yachts Belgium Sailing Team, had a good excuse to celebrate with three consecutive wins on Saturday 29th June. Their main competitors, the BH 41 'Flin", Sinergia 40 "Daikin Airco", J-120 "Just Us", Bavaria 38 Match "Boomerang" and the X-35 "The Untouchables".

Y-Toren Race

6-7 may 2006

X-ARGENTA took a honorable 4th place in the Y-Toren Race after 7 races held on Saturday and Sunday 6 - 7 th of May. On Saturday the last race was won by X-Argenta. During 45 minutes Quantum Sailing Team was chasing X-Argenta closely by more or less then 1 meter. But X-Argenta could hold off Quantum and won the race.

Sunday was not a fantastic day
Starting was not as good as on Saturday and the windinstrument failed, so we had a serious tactical problem. In race nr 6 during two laps we were in 3rd position, chasing Quantum Sails and Xhibition very closely, but at the second downwind mark the spinnaker got under the boat resulting in a 9th place.

Audi X-35 Cup

Sunday 23rd of April
the first 3 races of above cup were sailed in Muiderzand between 11 identical X-35. No handicaps, just straightforward up/down wind racing.

A bit as underdog X-Argenta went to Muiderzand in order to see how we could match up with some of the very best Dutch sailing teams.

Big surprise for everyone, the two Belgium boats did very well. X-Argenta scored two second places and a 6th. Liesl did even better with three 3rd places and is 2nd overall, one point better then X-Argenta.

X-Argenta (Part 1)

Season 2005

Our racing season 2005 is finished and we can look back on a very successfull X-Argenta promotion. Our X-Argenta is a normal production X-40 with full teak decks and lot's of teak interior. We wanted to proove that this cruiser could do well between real racing yachts and fullfill both cruising and racing needs for 100%. We believe the racing season speaks for itself.

Till half season we had some mixed emotions. At one hand it was clear that the boat had great potential. The boatspeed was fantastic, better then we assumed, at the other hand the end results in the important North Sea Regatta could have been a lot better.

X-Argenta (Part 2)

Competitive fleet
At the North Sea Regatta (IMS), in an even more competitive fleet with now more then 30 boats in our class, many were the same boats as at the Reco, but also now we saw a Synergia 40, Salona 40, Dehler 39 in epoxy, GS 44R, GS45,... We experienced almost the same story as at the Reco.

Everything still possible
The first day we had a very nice third place ...

X-Argenta (Part 3)

New speed potential
In order to show the speed potential of the new X-40 in Belgium, our crew went to sail the Belgium CRC championship in Blankenberge. With 15 minutes advance the two races were won from several fast cruisers as a Fingulf 41, Spirit 42,5 , X-412, ... As the gap was very big, some critised us for taking part on this championship, forgetting that we also sailed a cruiser with full teak decks.

Great surprise ...

Skandia Cowes Week 2004

From the mailservice of Seahorse (racing magazine)

The only boat to hold a perfect score of five firsts from five starts is Ipswich based David Pinneer sailing the X-332S Kiss.

Escape Argenta Sailing Team goes Malta

Argenta Spaarbank as sponsor
In 2004 the Escape Sailing Team found a sponsor in Argenta Spaarbank. One of the leading private banks in Belgium. Dirk Van Rompaey, owner of Argenta and experienced catamaran sailor, joined our team.

In cooperation with X-Yachts Malta we were invited to sail some races with a new X-332S, named "X" this in order to promote X-Yachts in Malta.

On most of the local races the boat was sailed by the national champion, Dr Timmy Camilleri and his Maltese team, for four races we came over from Belgium and sailed together with Timmy.

Goes Trophy 2003 - X-Yachts Cup Belgium 2003

The Escape Sailing Team was divided over several X-Yachts who competed for both Trophies. More then 40 boats were competing.

Eddy Verbinnen was sailing "Xipho" an IMX-45 with the owners of the boat. Helped by top navigator Marc Van de Wauwer, on the first race "Xipho" came in with a lead of one hour on the second boat. On rating the lead was only 20 minutes.

On the second day a 5th place was taken and overall "Xipho" became 2nd for the Goes Trophy and 1st for the X-Yachts Belgium Cup.

In the family class, X-332S from Mark Herssens won the 1st price for the
X-Yachts Belgium Cup.

Antwerp Race 2003

Pitty enough at this year's Antwerp Race the Escape Racing Team was divided over several boats.

Our best sailors, Marc Flamand, Jan Persoons and Bert Leduc were asked to sail the full carbon rocket racer "Tonnerre de Breskens" in order to try to obtain the line honours. Of course the guys did an excellent job and won the race.

Eddy Verbinnen was sailing the IMX-45 "Xipho" with the owners of the boat. As the boat was not measured and tuned, it had to be sailed with a terrible high rating. So the only choice was also to go for the line honours.

But half race "Tonnerre" steered by Marc Flamand, took over the lead and also "Aqua Equinox" steered by André Nelis passed. So finally "Xipho" arrived in Antwerp in 3rd place.

The picture was taken from our friends on "Tonnerre" when she passed "Xipho"

The 4 maxi's were kept behind as well as 226 other boats.
